Yuheng Chen – Composer, Pianist, and Contemporary Arts Event Organizer. Born in 1998 in Jinan, China,
Yuheng Chen studied composition with Michael Jarrell and Clara Iannotta, as well as electroacoustic composition with Karlheinz Essl.
Chen’s work encompasses the exploration of instrumental sound materials and the fragile balance between noise and sound.
Chen’s compositions have been presented at festivals and international concert halls, including the Witten Days for New Chamber Music, Tokyo Operacity Composium 2023, Impuls Festival Graz, Bludenzer Tage zeitgemäßer Musik, Festival Mixtur Barcelona, and Wien Modern. His works have been performed by various orchestras and ensembles such as the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Ensemble Recherche, Ensemble Names, Mdi Ensemble, Ensemble Platypus, the International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA), and many others.
In 2023, Chen was awarded the 3rd Prize in the Toru Takemitsu Composition Award 2023, as well as the 1st Prize in the Concorso Internazionale di Composizione Appassionato Ensemble and the 1st Prize in the 46th Irino Prize in Japan.
Chen has also active attended composition seminars and individual composition lesson held by composers such as Mochizuki Misato, Olga Neuwirth, Ying Wang, Francesco Filidei and Franck Bedrossian.
